Hello Reader,
ALL ABOARD for this week’s newsletter!
Amtrak Temporarily Sidelines Horizon Cars, Affecting Several Routes
Amtrak has temporarily removed its Horizon railcar fleet from service after routine inspections uncovered corrosion issues. Consequently, several routes—including the Downeaster, Hiawatha, Borealis, and Amtrak Cascades.
If you’re traveling on one of these routes, you may notice fewer trains running or be placed on a bus instead. While this isn’t ideal, these changes help keep everyone moving until Amtrak finds a long-term solution.
Amtrak is collaborating with the car manufacturer to resolve the issue, but a specific timeline for returning to full service has not been established yet.
In the meantime, check Amtrak’s website or call customer service for the latest updates on your trip.
As I learn more, I will share it with you.
Become an Advocate for Amtrak and Passenger Rail in the USA.
If you enjoy riding Amtrak or wish to see better train service in the U.S., consider joining the Rail Passengers Association (RPA).
This national group advocates for a stronger and more reliable passenger rail system by collaborating with lawmakers and transportation leaders to expand and enhance train travel.
As a member, you’ll stay updated on rail news and gain access to exclusive member perks, such as Amtrak discounts. More importantly, you’ll add your voice to a growing movement that believes trains should play a more significant role in our travel experiences.
Joining RPA is a simple yet powerful way to support the future of rail travel—whether you’re a frequent rider or simply a fan of trains.
